Winamp vulnerability

January 30th, 2006

More security woes to pile on you - this time relating to Winamp media player.

It seems that there's code in the wild External Link that demonstrates how to take advantage of a critical vulnerability External Link in Winamp.  This flaw exploits a vulnerability with the way that Winamp processes files that have the extension .pls that are used by Internet radio stations.

It's recommended that you check the Confirm open after download box from Folder Options > File Types and to only download .pls files from trusted sources.
