Uninstalling iTunes on the Mac

I've had a couple of emails off visitors to this blog wanting to know how to uninstall iTunes 5.0 from their Mac so that they can reinstall iTunes 4.9 to overcome the problems they are having with version 5.0 (problems described here and the iTunes 4.9 download link is here).
The process for uninstalling iTunes is detailed here on macosx.com.
