I upgraded this site to WordPress 2.0 two months ago and activated the Akismet anti-spam plugin.  In that time, Akismet as protected readers from over 25,000 items of spam. 

Wow!  I'm really impressed.  This alone made the move to WP 2.0 worthwhile.  If each spammy comment or trackback had taken me 1 second to deal [...]

Over the past couple of hours I've been hit with over 400 trackback/comment spam (nearly doubling my Akismet total, which was activated when I moved up to WordPress 2.0), all along the following lines:
